A note before you begin

This guide synthesizes peer-reviewed sleep science with cultural wisdom passed down through generations of Arab families. We've cited research where claims rest on evidence, and we've been honest where the evidence is mixed or evolving.

Read it cover to cover, or jump to the chapter most relevant to your stage. Each chapter stands alone.

Nothing in this guide replaces the judgment of your pediatrician. The UAE has excellent pediatric care — use it.

Our research method

This guide cites work from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and peer-reviewed research in Pediatrics, Sleep, PNAS, Science, and the Archives of Disease in Childhood.

Where the research is settled, we report findings directly. Where it's evolving or contested (as in cry-it-out methods, co-sleeping safety, swaddling duration), we present multiple perspectives with their underlying evidence so you can make an informed decision with your pediatrician.

Where cultural practice aligns with research, we say so. Where it doesn't, we say that too.
